Business Communication - Blog?

I was asked to teach-moderate a class at Valparaiso University this week (Friday) on blogging. I'm going to try and post my draft slides presentation for input and ideas from our readers.

Be critical, throw me some ideas for sure.

As you can already tell, I'm no graphics or HTML guy, the perfect world would be me writing and someone else doing that stuff. So it won't look as cool as some of you would do it.

I think the presentation looks great! The hardest part in all of it is going to be keeping on time as there is tons of information to spark new ideas and conversations. But if that's all you have to worry about then I think you're in good shape. :) Good luck and keep us posted as to how everything goes.

One thing I might stress in the presentation is that Content is King. If a company or person is looking to blog and they want to monetize it, they need to have lots of unique content posted regularly. Without relevant, regularly updated content, the search engines won't give you love.

The two most important aspects of SEO are:

Content (keywords a part of this)

I might also talk about the various Content Management Systems out there for blogging and combining blogging with website development. I recommend:

Wordpress is the easiest to set up and customize and it's much more robust that Blogger and allows you to use your own domains. I'm not a fan of Blogger as a CMS.

Hope this helps!
