Mayor Jon Costas hopes to appear on the Republican ticket in November as the
party's nominee for Indiana attorney general, the two-term city leader announced
Tuesday.

Costas said he began considering the statewide post three weeks
ago, after Republican Attorney General Steve Carter announced he would forgo a
third term
Four other prominent Republican lawyers have expressed interest in the
nomination. But one of them, Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita, on Tuesday
said he'd step aside for Costas

Quality of Life Northwest Indiana

... post today from Quality of Life Council in NW Indiana

Whatever you think of Hatcher's tenure..
from Northwest Indiana Quality of Life Council by QLC

You must admit that he makes a good point in a recent article from the NWI Times regarding the GUEA debacle on the broader effect of public corruption:

"It is indicative of the fact that some people do not take public office seriously but rather see it as a way to enrich themselves," Hatcher said. "Until that problem is addressed -- until corruption in public service ends -- it will be extremely difficult for Gary ... and this entire area."

Still searching for his candidate

I'm sorry to take a pot shot at a fellow NW Indiana blogger, but Kevin Tracy is still on an endless hunt for a candidate. His most recent is a former Republican who is now a Libertarian.

Who is Bob Barr and why should Republicans take notice?
from Kevin Tracy by Kevin
Bob Barr is a former Republican US Representative from the state of Georgia’s 7th Congressional District. He remained in office until 2003. Due to Gerrymandering, Barr’s District 7 most of its territory and much of Represenative John Linder’s (the guy who introduced the Fair Tax to the House floor) district was then incorporated into the new 7th District. Barr lost in the 2002 GOP Primary and hasn’t run for office until now.
Upset with the liberal direction his political party is taking, Bob Barr has left the Republican Party to become a member of the Libertarian Party. But that’s not all… the man is seeking the Libertarian Party’s Presidential Nomination for 2008. That means he’s butting heads with Mike Gravel of all people.

Now, my thoughts. Kevin, time to back John McCain and help us win back the house and senate.
